FAQ

1) How long are office visits?

The first visit is usually 45-60 minutes. If you need acupuncture with the visit that will be another 20 minutes.
Follow up visits are 30-45 minutes and with acupuncture add 20 minutes.

2) Does everyone need acupuncture?

No it is case by case. Many have such chronic conditions that much of the treatment is with herbs.

3) If I get acupuncture, does it hurt?

It usually feels like a pinch when the needle goes in, but often people don’t even feel that. The needle thickness is about three strands of head hair twisted together. They are solid shaft and conical tipped so the needle slides into the skin. As opposed to injection needles that are thicker, knife tipped and hollow to punch a hole into the skin.

4) How long are acupuncture treatments?

They are not as long as a consult. So after a brief conversation concerning your problem and the treatment it is a total of 30-35 minutes.

5) What goes on during a consult?

After filling out the intake form we will ask you questions to further clarify what your problems are and then do our muscle testing to further evaluate you and create an herbal formula.

6) What is muscle testing?

Using acupuncture points we measure something called bio photon emissions. Bio photons are infra-red light emitted from cells in our bodies. This light from cells will either be a healthy resonance, or an infection, a toxin, or an inflammation, that creates a unhealthy signal. Think bio feedback, meets ultrasound, meets MRI, but you’re the instrument.

When looking for the imbalance we then look for a change in muscle strength using a o-ring either you or the practitioner creates.

7) How does that work?

Well in the testing, if we find the reasons behind you not feeling well ,the energetic signal from what’s causing the problem stresses you nervous system. That in turn, makes it hard to hold the o-ring that was made with your thumb and middle finger. That weakness then confirms something is wrong and then we try to correct using Chinese herbs

8) Herbs? Are they safe?

Yes herbs and yes they are very safe. From our 300 plus herbal pharmacy, we will make a specific formula just for your condition. No formula is pre-made, and it is customized to your needs.

9) Where do the herbs come from?

We use 3 different suppliers, and all the herb are highly tested for purity. Using GMP measures(used by all food and drug manufacturing), each batch of herbs are tested and passed accordingly. We have many highly sensitive patients and we have to have very clean product for them all.

10) How long do I take these herbs?

It varies. Acute problems can start to see a difference in 48 hrs, if taking herbs every 1-2 hours. Chronic issues take longer. The general rule of thumb is that for every year you condition exists, it can take 1-3 months healing time.

11) How will I feel on the herbs?

That varies too. About 20-30% of people can feel a detox reaction. That can be, headache, body ache, loose stool, joint pain, fever, fatigue and on occasion disrupted sleep. These are not allergic reactions. Hives, itchy throat, swollen mucous membranes, itchy watery eyes, are allergies.

12) If I’m detoxing what should I do?

Try and stick it out. It will last 1-7 days. Herbs are meant to stimulate your body to fight whatever the problem is. Like the flu with fever and body aches, it’s your body versus the bug that creates that reaction. But make sure you take the herbs with a full glass of water and make sure you take water in consistently throughout the day.

If it continues past the 7 days, stop the herbs for 2 days, drink more water then return to the herbs on half the amount and gradually build back up.

13) Should I contact the office if I’m not sure?

Yes by all means!! Call and speak to our front desk. If it’s a simple question, often we will give our staff an answer to relay to you. If we need to talk we will get to you as soon as possible. Also feel free to email us, majid.ahnjel@yahoo.com.

14) When will I come back in?

We usually see patients every 2-4 weeks or follow up. Please bring whatever herbs you have left.

15) Will my herbs last? If not what?

We try and do the math and figure out how much to give you to last between appointments. But if you have run out and it’s more than 5 days til your next visit, please call for a refill.

16) Can I get a refill anytime?

No. We usually need 2-3 days. Between herbs for the patients we see daily and the refills we get, there is rarely same day refills. So if you are traveling, please be courteous and give us time to help you out.

17) Do you take insurance?

No but we will give you a super bill to send to your insurance company and they will reimburse you.

18) What forms of payment will you take?

All major credit cards, checks and of course cash.
